Drama

This weekend was a crazy one, that's for sure.
Friday was pretty tame.  Just a boring day at the office and a few shopping errands to get things such as this:

A very important item!

I also got a few things on sale at Kirklands (which you will see later) and some stuff to make goody bags for my 5th and 6th graders at church.

Saturday was the one that almost did me in.  I started to get a migraine around 11 in the morning.  I had a wedding at 2 to go to, and I was putting off getting ready until I figured out if I could go or not.  The headache was not too bad this time, but I was having some crazy vision problems and I couldn't see out of my left eye very well, so I didn't think it was a good idea to be driving.  After a lot of ibuprofen and a coke and just laying in bed trying to sleep, it finally went away enough that I felt ok to go to the wedding.  I didn't really know anyone else at the wedding or reception, so it was a little awkward.  Also earlier in the day, my bff Cherry had texted me that she had gotten engaged!  We already had a small get together planned on Saturday night, so I decided to make it a kind of surprise engagement party.  I made the world's ugliest cake (seriously- I was so embarrassed), but between the other wedding/reception and going to eat dinner with my family, I didn't have time to (a) fix the cake or (b) make another one.  At least it was kind of dark in there so maybe noone noticed?  It tasted good anyway.  Here's a pic of me and the bride-to-be:

Not to mention that my ex-boyfriend is going to be the best man and I will be the maid of honor.  Um, awkward.  :)  That was a very strange evening.

So Sunday, I went to church and then headed to the mall with my friends Mary and Ashley.  I only got one shirt for my sister at the Gap for $1.27 including tax!  At least my one purchase was a good one!  Well I guess I really got another thing- we made a stop at the cookie stand, and I got one peanut butter M&M cookie which cost more than the shirt I bought!  Then I went to my grandmother's house for dinner.  I made it home in time to watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition.  During the commercial breaks I did this:

I bought these things at Kirklands on Friday, and finally got around to hanging them.  This is the window above my bed, and I hung these above the window.  You really don't want to know how long that took me or how many nail holes are behind them.  Whenever I get sick of them and take them down, there will be a lot of patch work to do.  :)  However, they are exactly the same height above the window and exactly the same distance apart.  I was not prepared for how much work that was going to be.  I had them perfectly aligned once, only to discover that the left one was 10 inches from the center and the other was 8 inches.  I was pretty mad.  haha.  But now they are hanging straight- I just hope one doesn't fall off and hit me in the head while I am sleeping!  (or while I am awake, for that matter.)

Today is another slow day in the office.  It was also my first day to have to call for jury duty.  This week I do not have to go in, which I guess is good.  Tomorrow will also be a slow day in my office, so I was hoping for a little bit of excitement in the courts!  :)

Pictures?

One more thing- can you see the pictures on my blog?  I just noticed that none of them are loading for me, even when I refresh the screen.  I tried to put one on here from my facebook- but they wouldn't load either, so I'm thinking its something with my computer?

Thanks!!

Beth Moore

Yesterday, my friend Ashley and I went to a meeting put on by Lifeway about the upcoming Living Proof live event featuring Beth Moore at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock.  I am super excited.  Remember my 30 before 30 list?  Well- seeing Beth Moore in person is on there, so I am happy to be checking another item off.  :)  I haven't been doing so hot in checking off my items.  I need to get busy on that!

I ordered my ticket this morning, so it is official.  I will be going to see Beth Moore in April!  Woo!  If you are planning on going, let me know!

New Look

I got a new look!!  What do you think???  I am loving it so much more than my old background!

Garage Doors and Jury Duty

Not much was on the schedule for this weekend.  Friday night I had an impromtu Glee marathon with Karen, Melissa, and Shannon that ended up with me practially falling asleep in Karen's bed.  Saturday- we headed to Hot Springs Village to pick up some leftover tile from a relative that was redoing his bathroom.  I was headed out the door when I realized that the garage door wouldn't open.  I was really not looking forward to shelling out a couple hundred bucks for a new opener, but luckily all it needed apparently was to be unplugged and then plugged right back in.  Sister and I skipped church on Sunday because my dad came over to work on my garage door.  We also watched Enchanted- twice.  :)  I love that movie.  Oh and we watched part of the Parent Trap, which will always have a special place in my heart- lol I have seen that one more times than I can count.  I got a really bad headache last night, so I went to bed at around 8 pm.  That is early- even for me! haha.  Apparently I also talked to my grandmother on the phone- but I don't remember it.  I can have a whole conversation in my sleep, I guess.

Today was also my jury orientation day.  I had to go to the courthouse and fill out a lot of papers and watch a very entertaining video that starred some award winning actors.  Ok so the video was pretty awful, but I did learn something so I guess it served its purpose.  I am glad that it was scheduled for today though, because I had nothing to do in my office.  It gave me some entertainment for a couple of hours, anyway.  I have to start calling next week to find out if I have to come serve, so I guess we will see.  It is better than sitting bored in my office, I guess!

The snow day that wasn't

Yesterday morning, it started snowing.  Practically everyone on my floor at work left, so I got kind of freaked out and decided that I would also go home at 12:30.  Well, it was snowing pretty hard, but nothing stuck to the streets, mainly just the grassy areas.  I live in a very hilly neighborhood, so I was worried about my street since it is so steep.  I was at least hoping to get out of working today.  :)  But no such luck.  You can barely even tell that it snowed.  Oh well- I had half a day at home to catch up on some laundry and watch Dr. Oz and Oprah, which I never get to do since they come on while I'm at work.  I was kind of grumpy, so I also went to bed early.  The drivers in the "snow" were really stressing me out yesterday.

Here's hoping today runs much more smoothly!  (and the 4 cups of coffee I've had today sure are making me hyper- I forgot to bring my Vitamin Water today to our staff meeting- and the coffee was too tempting- it was a long meeting haha)

3 Day weekend

I had a 3 day weekend this time!  Saturday, I went over to my grandmother's house to eat beans and ham, which we were supposed to eat last weekend, except the snow storm screwed that up.  (P.S. I hate ham!!) I did get a graduation present though, which I was not expecting since we were celebrating my grandmother and stepmom's birthdays.  I also watched the Hogs pull out a win against Alabama in basketball.  I did not go to that party that I was supposed to go to, so I had a bunch of leftover food.  I took the pecan pie bars to church and they went over pretty well.  I still need to eat or give away that pecan brittle.  I also watched Miss America.  Yay for Miss Arkansas getting 2nd place!

Sunday I went to church and then of course my sister thought that McDonalds was the perfect place for lunch.  We played a little Wii and then went to my house to watch a couple of movies and paint a piggy bank for littlest brother.  I did get to test out my new air mattress that I got for Christmas because my sister thought it was way cooler to sleep on the air mattress than in my bed.  It is almost as big as my queen sized bed and also almost as tall.

Luckily, Monday was a holiday and I had the day off.  I went to Charming Charlie and DSW where I got a new pair of shoes.  Then we met up with some others to eat at B Side, which ended up being closed, so we walked across the street to Igibon for lunch.  Then we went to see True Grit.  I liked it ok.  There was a little too much blood and shooting for me.  :)  That is not really my kind of movie.  I bought a huge coke (translation- it was really Mr. Pibb) and a popcorn, which set me back $12!  It ended up at about $20 for the movie and snacks, which I guess is not too bad.  Then we went to a local toy store that is having a going out of business sale.  The owners are retiring, and so everything is discounted.  We got some pretty good deals.  I went home for a short while, and then had to go back out to handbells practice.  I am glad that some activities are starting back up.  I like to stay busy!  :)

I'm also going to try to remember to go sign up for that last cake decorating class that I am going to take.  That will be one more thing that I can cross off my 30 before 30 list!  (on which I plan to do an update soon...)

This is another slow week for me at work, boo.  Also, I got called for jury duty.  another boo.  :)

Tomorrow starts up our 5th and 6th grade program at church, and I'll be glad to see those crazy kids again. Always an adventure!

New table and Desserts

So I can't believe I forgot to blog about this....

I have been looking for a table/dresser/something to go in my entryway ever since I moved into my house about 9 months ago.  I didn't have a lot of money to spend, so I was looking on craigslist and at garage and estate sales.  I couldn't find anything in a store that I liked enough to shell out that much cash.  Then, my mom scored this awesome chest thing off of freecycle.  It was an unfortunate light wood color that is just not my style, and so we painted it black.  I also went to get some new drawer pulls from Home Depot, and I am so glad that I did.  I love these!  Here's the finished product (forgot to take a before shot):

Good as new!  I also love all the storage that I have in there now.  Especially since I have 28 (Yes, I just went and counted them) rolls of wrapping paper in the hall closet.  (And that's not counting my other stash under my bed- I think I have a problem.  Maybe I should go on that weird addictions tv show.)  The closet has been my catch all, so now I have some more storage for some of those things.

Also, I got invited to a party tomorrow night, and my friend Cherry suggested that I bring some cookies.  I didn't want to venture out to the grocery store in my pajamas, so I decided to see what I could whip up only using ingredients that I already had.  I am not good at making things up, and I always have to use a recipe.  So after a little researching, I found out that I already had everything necessary to make pecan brittle and pecan pie bars.  Not cookies, but I think it will be ok.  Beggars can't be choosers, right??  It was good too, because I used up all my pecans and corn syrup.  I always buy things for one specific use and then never can think of something to do with the rest of it.  I am glad I wasn't wasteful this time!  I would take a picture, except that my camera is dead.  Oh well.  The pecan brittle is pretty good- a little thicker than I would have liked, but it is ok.  I haven't tried the pecan pie bars, but I am hoping they are good!  I love pecan pie and this recipe was really easy!

Wintery Weekend

It snowed on Sunday.  I had to go to my grandmother's house for a birthday party, and once we got there, we decided to go back home.  I ended up at my dad's house with no car, and then I had to stay there until this afternoon, when things finally cleared up enough to be able to drive me to my house.  So I am now at home, but I don't have a car, so it looks like I won't be making it to work tomorrow either.  The roads weren't too bad, but I am afraid they will refreeze again tonight.

On Sunday I made a mad dash to Walmart after church to get some things to make cookies.  This picture shows how you know it is going to snow in Arkansas:

Whenever the weather man says the word "snow", the sales of milk, bread, and eggs skyrocket.  :)

It's finally gameday!

Nothing awesome has happened since I last posted.  I went to Mississippi, I got a new roommate, and I am sick.

However, today is a long awaited day!  It's GAMEDAY!!!

My Hogs are playing the Ohio State Buckeyes today at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans tonight!  I am so excited and I really wish I could be there!  The basketball team is also playing tonight, but the time conflicts with the football game, so I will watch the Sugar Bowl and get basketball updates on my phone.

Woo Pig Sooie!
