Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was so packed that I can't even remember all that I did.  I thought I would share those highlights that have photographic evidence.  :)

I went to church.  This is me and my friend Ashley before church.

We played handbells in the 2 traditional services.  I tried to put that video on here - didn't work.  Oh well.

I dressed up like a bunny.
I made an Easter egg cake.  This is what it looked like before.
And this was after the short 5 minute car trip.  Humpty dumpty anyone?

Random

  • I bought some tulips to plant in my yard.  There were some casualties.  They ended up (temporarily) on my kitchen table.

  • I like frozen yogurt.  The last 2 times I went to Yogurt Mountain.  Seems like an awesome name to me!  :)
  • I got a new mirror for my entry way.  I was super scared it was going to break during shipping, but it arrived safe and sound.
  •
  • I rearranged the stuff on my entry table.  Too bad the tulips are now dead.  I'm going to have to get something else I suppose.
  • Now you are mostly caught up on my recent happenings.  I still need to tell you about my Easter and Humpty Dumpty, but that will have to wait until next time so that I can get ready for bed!  This old lady needs her rest!

Cracking up during the Tornado Warnings

So we are under severe weather warnings and watches again today.  I was trying to watch Glee and The Voice tonight, but I guess that wasn't meant to be.  All that's on is radar and live reports from storm chasers.  Oh well, better safe than sorry.  I did get my hidey-hole put together in case you were wondering.  All the batteries are in working order.  However, I am still scared to death to go in there.  Hopefully I can get it sheetrocked soon so that I can at least see the creatures that are crawling in there and about to get me.

I'm catching up on reading all of the blogs that I follow, and I saw that my friend Lyndsey updated her blog today.  I must tell you that I laughed so hard that I almost cried when I saw her newest post.  If you would like to see a picture of me looking like a drowned rat, dressed like a hooker (ok that's not what we were supposed to be, and exhausted on a long bus ride, go check out her blog here.

Well practically the whole state of Arkansas is under a torado watch until later tonight, and the whole state is under a flash flood watch until Wednesday afternoon.  Looks like I'm in for another long night of tv watching.

So Over It

So today we had another round of tornados.  I am so over this weather.  Rain and tornados every other day it seems like.   Maybe since this is the third time in the last week and a half or so, I will actually get my hidey-hole ready.  At least they were earlier in the evening today.  Hopefully we are done for tonight so I can get some sleep!  I think it is affecting everyone because my work today was like zombieland.  :)

Beth Moore event

So sorry that I have been slacking on the blogging.  I have been super busy and I just started a new job today, so hopefully things will settle down soon.  Also, I used to be able to blog at work, and I don't think I can do that now, so that might make blogging a little harder.

Anyway- Friday night and Saturday morning I was at an event at Verizon Arena to see this lady:

What do you mean you can't tell who that is?  haha.  I know the quality of the picture is not that great.  It is Beth Moore.  I had a good time but I thought the price was still a little steep!

Here's a picture of the stage:

Beth said that there were people there from 22 different states.  I couldn't believe that!  I certainly would not have come to Arkansas from places as far away as Alaska for this one event!

Here is a picture of me and my friends Shannon and Beth at the event..
Also, I got to drive the church van all the way there and back twice!  All in all, it was about 40 miles.  I think the farthest I have ever driven that big old thing is like 5 miles!  Hopefully I didn't scare anybody too bad!

The topic of the event was "Fulfilling your ministry in the Wild of Community".  I did take a couple of things away from it, but honestly I just thought that sometimes I get more out of those DVDs that we watch on Sunday evenings.  That being said, if she came again, I would probably go.  The message is different at each one, so I guess it just depends on if you can relate to what she is talking about.  I thought the music was pretty great.  The only thing is that sometimes they were singing old hymns (and even some newer stuff) and just assumed that everyone knew the words so they weren't on the screen.  Maybe they were not planned songs, and so the slides were not prepared?  All I know is that 99% of the time, my radio is tuned to a Christian station and there are a few rare Sundays that my rear is not in a pew at church, and there were a couple of those songs that I just did not know.  That is one thing that I wish would have been better.

She had seven points to her "sermon."  The first was to adopt a succinct life goal.  That is the thing that I most am going to focus on from the event.

Well, I am exhausted from a long first day at work, so I am going to go to bed and leave the rest of the weekend events for another post!!

Blogging Challenge Post 6

DAY 06: A PICTURE OF A PERSON YOU'D LOVE TO CHANGE PLACES WITH FOR A DAY

Honestly, right now I am so exhausted that I would love to change places with anyone who is sleeping.  :)

   person sleeping

If I had to pick a person, I think I would pick Paula Deen so that I could learn some of her recipes.  However, I am not sure that I would really like to be another person for a day.  I like everything my own way, not necessarily how another person would have it. haha.  :)

Jury Duty

So I had jury duty again!  I never knew something could make you as tired as sitting in a court room all day.  I seriously don't know how people do that all the time.  Definitely that is not for me!  At least we got it done all in one day.  I have a lot to finish up at the office since this is my last week here.

I did realize one thing this morning- My new job has a parking lot right outside the building, instead of having to walk half a mile.  Yay!
