Random Catch-Up Post #1

1.  I tested out my car's gas gauge. (<-- Is that even right?  Oh well, the thing that says how much gas you have.)  For you concerned people, yes- I made it to the gas station.

2.  We tried to Pay-Per-View the first Razorback game.  It didn't work.  We listened on the radio and ate these cupcakes with red and white sprinkles and of course- pig cupcake liners!

3.  I finally have a car with a Razorback on it.  I am glad.  It is even better because I bought it in Fayetteville!

4.  I did my very first solo site visit and public meeting for work in Jonesboro.  Nothing catastrophic (also, apparently today I am in the mood to use words that I don't know how to spell?!?!) happened.

5.  At said site visit and public meeting, I wore these two pairs of shoes.  Obviously one pair at the site visit and the other pair at the meeting.  Only an engineer....

6.   I discovered Nutella.  I also really needed to go to the grocery store, so I had some very strange meals.  This particular one was a tortilla with Nutella, and some pickles.

7.  I went to the second Razorback game, which was in Little Rock.  This was my first time to wear a white shirt to a Razorback game.  (For some reason, I can't get this photo to be in the center.  Oh well, and please excuse the disgusting mirror used to take this picture...)

8.  Since the game was on September 10, we attempted a patriotic look in honor of September 11th.  It turned out to actually work and looked pretty neat.  This is a picture of the band, but it shows the fans.

9.  My friends Ashley and Andrea turned 30!  This is me and Ashley at dinner at YaYa's.  She looks cute, I do not.

10.  I hosted a baby shower with Lydia for our friend Lyndsey.  But since I already have 10 ramblings, I will save the baby shower for its own post!  Time for bed!

Tired.

Y'all.  This past week has worn me out.   I have a lot to say, but can barely talk in coherent sentences.  Update to come soon.  And in the shower today- I almost washed my hair with body wash.  Body wash is green, shampoo is pink.  Not that hard to tell a difference- most days.....

I am a pro at blogging about things way after they happen.  Oh well, better late than never, right?

Sometime a couple of weeks ago in August... I went to Fayetteville for the weekend.  On Friday night, I got to see my friend Lyndsey.  Here we are getting some frozen yogurt.  They had an orange flavor that reminded me of the Flinstones push-up pops when I was a kid.

I stayed with my brother in his apartment that looks every bit like you would expect a 21 year old college boy's apartment to look.  Here we are in my grainy iPhone photo...

That Saturday I had to take my car to the shop for the second time in its short 3 month life.  It was making some weird noises after the drive to Fayetteville, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and it hasn't done it again.  Oh well, it is just a mystery I guess.

Saturday night, I went out to dinner with some of the other alums of my sorority that live in the area.  This is me and Laura.  Also a grainy iPhone pic, since apparently that is the only camera I have.

Sunday was bid day for the sororities at the University of Arkansas.  This is the main reason I went up there.  It was a fun trip down memory lane, and I got to see a bunch of girls from when I was in college.

Eureka!

Last weekend (yes, I am just now getting around to blogging about it), I went to Eureka Springs with some of my friends!  We had a fun time (except for the driving because I get car sick... boo).

We went to this cute shop.  Looks just like my kind of place!  Too bad I didn't get anything!

It is a cute little town!  And I think we were pretty cute too lol!

This is the most haunted room in the whole hotel.  There is a 2 year wait to stay in this room.  No thanks!  I would specifically ask for the least haunted room! ha!

We also went to see the Christ of the Ozarks statue.  I have been before but not in a long time.

It was a fun trip!  I have some pretty awesome friends!  I only got one souvenir- a bracelet.  I have not had good shopping luck lately!  Hopefully that will change soon!

Random Happenings

Too much has happened since I last posted, and I am exhausted, so this is going to be a bunch of random bullets....

1.  Man it is HOT!  I took this picture a couple of weeks ago, and sadly this was not the max.  We actually broke a record here!



2.  I went with my friend Cherry to pick up her wedding dress!  Yay!


3.  I had a work conference in Hope.  I got a watermelon.


They are known for their watermelons and have a festival every year that should be coming up soon.  (By the way- my hopes for finding something fun in Hope were smashed.  All I found was a barn and some horse poop.  It is in the middle of nowhere, unless you want to see the house in which President Clinton grew up.)

4.  I made some delicious stir fry.


5.I went to the circus!  It was a fun time, although they wanted $12 for a snow cone.  No Way!

6.  My poor car has already been in the shop.  It was a simple fix (a bent heat shield) and is running like a champ now.

7.  I went to my first Arkansas Traveler's game of the season!  I don't know how it ended since we left early due to the heat, but it sure wasn't looking good.

8.  I rediscovered my love of Cheez-its.  I mean like, I really love them.  :)

9.  I went shopping yesterday because it was Arkansas' tax free holiday.  I like not having to pay tax.  Plus I had a coupon for 20% off at Kohls, so it was an extra good deal.

10.  I got chosen to be in a laundry detergent trial.  I got 2 free bottles of detergent to review over the next 4 weeks.  I am pretty pumped about that!  I love free stuff!!

Handy Homeowner

This weekend, I found myself to be pretty handy.

So the weekend before this past one, I got fed up with my digital cable.  See, it has been acting badly for a while, but I knew several others who were also having trouble, so I just thought I would be patient until they got it worked out.  Well, my patience ran out.  So Saturday I called the cable people and they said someone would be out on Tuesday between 8-11am.  Super.  So- then on Sunday I got an automated call saying that someone would be there on Monday between 8-11.  Now I was confused.  So I had to call the company and ask which day were they planning on coming, Monday or Tuesday?  So it was confirmed that they were coming on Monday between 8-11.

So then on Monday, by 12 nobody had shown up so my mom came over to stay at my house so that I could go back to work.  The guy finally showed up in the late afternoon- after approximately 500,000 phone calls to the company...

He declared the problem to be a crappy installation job with old wires and that someone would come out on Saturday to install new wires between 11-2pm.  Sound fishy yet?

So then on Saturday morning after my morning exercise (which I haven't done in a long time and almost was the death of me- but that is another post) I still hadn't gotten a confirmation phone call.  So I called around 10:30 and the lady informed me that I most definitely did not have an 11-2 appointment, but instead a 8am-7pm appointment.  To say that I was less than pleased is an understatement.  I was one angry lady.  I was sure that I was going to have to sit in my house until 7 at night and still they might not show up.  My bad attitude was (temporarily) short-lived though, because the guy showed up at a little before 11.  Then, he told me that he was pretty sure that the problem was not the lines, and that he was wasting his time and mine, but since they told him to run new lines, he would run new lines.  Great.

So then the guy runs the lines and guess what.  Still doesn't work.  SO then I was like well what do I do now?  And he had the nerve to tell me to call the company and set up a THIRD appointment to get a new cable box.  Are you Freaking kidding me?!?!?!  He said that he didn't have an extra box in the truck so that is why he couldn't do it right then and there.  So I asked if I could just go to the store and get another one from the company, and he was like, Well, you can try but they usually won't give you one. 

Well I took my frustrated and slightly pissed off self down to the store.  The guy told me to tell them I wanted an updated box because if I told them that this one was broken, then they wouldn't believe me or give me a new one.  So I tried that, and the lady at the store told me they didn't have any updated boxes.  I was like ok, well I don't care- how about just giving me a different old one then.  She wanted to know why, and so I told her my "symptoms" and she tried to tell me it was a line problem.  I just about blew a gasket then.  Ok maybe not, but I was certainly not leaving there without a new box!  Turns out, they did have some updated boxes, and I got one that day.

Then I came home and hooked it up.  It didn't work at first, but I guess it just needed a little time to warm up, because now it works like a charm.  I must say though, that the next time I have problems with my service, I'm switching to a new provider unless I get a really stinking good deal.

Also on my fix-it list this weekend was my printer.  I got this printer about 2 years ago for free with my laptop.  Right there you should know that it is top quality! ha!  I have never used it because I have always been able to print other places and didn't need to worry about it.  So I finally needed it a week or so ago- got it out to install it- and guess what!  Half of the power cord was missing!  I mean, really?!?!  Luckily my mom had the (matching) missing part from one of her old printers and gave it to me.  So then I resumed the process, only to discover that I was missing the USB cord.  So a long time and a trip to Walmart later, I had an up and running printer.  Woo-hoo!

And then after all that- I caught the stomach flu or something and puked all night.  Lovely.  Aren't you glad you read all the way to the end?  :)
