A few randoms and a wedding

I have become addicted to pinterest.  It's my new favorite place to find recipes.  I found this one where you shape cinnamon rolls like hearts before you bake them.  Mine could have used a more distinct point at the bottom, but they still tasted great.

Thursday night before Cherry's wedding, there was a storm and the power went out.  I went out and wandered around Target (because- you know, they have a light in their bathroom and all that) and when I couldn't find anything else to look at, I drove through Chick-fil-A and got dinner.  A smart person would have stayed at the restaurant and eaten their dinner where they could actually see their food, but I didn't think about that until I was already at home.  So- I had a romantic candlelight/flashlight dinner by myself in the floor of my bedroom.  Ha!  And if you know me at all, you know that I like to eat with operating room style lighting- I like to see what I'm eating, so this was not super awesome for me.

Friday night we had the wedding rehearsal.  The actual wedding wasn't until Sunday but someone else was getting married on Saturday so we couldn't have the room then obviously.  I made Cherry a ridiculously tacky rehearsal bouquet.  She asked me if the white thing was a loofah.   Seriously- who puts a loofah in a bow bouquet?  It was made of all bows from her shower and bachelorette party presents, along with a plate and napkin from her shower.

Since her wedding colors were red and gold, we had a hard time coming up with something blue for her to wear.  I found this cute idea on pinterest, and one of the other bridesmaids did this for her on the day of the wedding when we were getting ready.

I saw lots of old friends!  And I didn't get to take a lot of pictures because I was busy running around doing miscellaneous things, so I can't wait to see the pictures that the photographer took!

She had a wardrobe change halfway through the reception (of course when I was finally trying to eat some cake) and I snapped this picture of us in the hotel room.

I caught the bouquet.  Funny story.  So all the girls were so hesitant to try to catch the bouquet.  We practically had to drag everyone up there.  And then I was telling people- I'm gonna fight for this bouquet so get ready!  haha!  So she throws it and it goes really high in the air.  I tried to jump and catch it and totally missed and it hit me right in the face!  I hope the photographer got a picture of that and doesn't think I would be offended because I think that is so funny and totally something that would happen to me.  AND- then the do the garter thing, and guess who catches it- my ex-boyfriend who was the best man.  I was the maid of honor and I told her that whenever I get married, I'm having all of her ex-boyfriends in my wedding party.  :)

This is me and my friend Louisa re-enacting the bouquet toss.  And I look like I have zombie eyes and she was totally trying to hit me in the face.  We had a crazy time- and all I had to drink was Coke and sparkling white grape juice (not together- that is gross).

Here's me with the newlyweds!
And the messy cake table- not sure how we got it so dirty!

We had a fun time and everything went perfectly.  Well- except that my face was twitching the whole time from when I started walking down the aisle until the wedding was over.  I hope I don't look crazy in all the pictures!!

Bachelorette Weekend

Back in February, we went to Fayetteville for Cherry's bachelorette weekend!  Five of us drove up there together and we met a bunch of others there.  We went to lunch at my fav (and sadly only found in Fayetteville), Flying Burrito!

Graham wasn't really happy about the situation, but everyone else was! :)

Me and the bachelorette!

Both Cherry and I also got invited to baby showers that same day, which worked out well since we were in NWA anyway.  Here's a picture of me, Toni, and Lucy at Toni's shower.  Toni was my roommate my senior year of college, and Lucy was our unofficial roommate who slept on the couch.  :)

After running around dropping off baby presents, we went to get manicures and pedicures.  Then we went back to get situated at our hotel.  We had 3 different kinds of petit fors and wine for when Cherry opened her gifts.

The petit fors had a rough ride to Fayetteville, but they still tasted fine- just looked a little messed up.  BTW I am so learning how to make those things because they are freaking expensive.

She opened her gifts and got a lot of good stuff.  Then we went to eat at Taste of Thai.  That was my first time eating Thai food.  I had some kind of chicken with asparagus and it was pretty good.  Here is a pic of me and my other bff Lyndsey at dinner.

Me, Cherry, and Louisa after dinner.  P.S.  It was soooo cold!!!

We had a fun weekend- stayed up to late, ate too much, laughed alot, and played silly games.  And of course I had to go take another picture with my name on the senior walk at the UofA.  Pretty soon I will have a giant collection of those pictures!

Pi Day Swap

I participated in a Pi day blog swap and today we are revealing what we got!

Basically we were paired up and had to send 3 paper items, 1 accessory, and 4 pastel items to our partner, with a price limit of $15.  Tammy was my partner.  I hope she likes her package- it is hard to shop for someone that you don't know in real life.  It was funny though because she sent me a note in mine (see the cupcake note card?) and I sent her those exact same notecards in her package! Great minds think alike!

Here's what I got:

It came in a cute little box and I'm trying to think of what I can use it for!  I got a magnetic list pad, some sticky notes, and cute Easter napkins, a ring pop, a cute little soap, some sprinkles (!!!), a cute little bunny Easter decoration, some M&Ms, and some tea.  I've never had white tea before, so I'm anxious to try it.

The blog swap was fun and I made a new blog friend!  Thanks Tammy!

What is Kony 2012?

I've been seeing alot of stuff on Facebook today about Kony 2012.  I had no idea what it was until I saw a video on Kelly's blog.  If you are curious, go watch the video.  Crazy.

Wedding Shower

A couple of weeks ago, I hosted a wedding shower for my friend Cherry at my house.  It was a fun time.  This is what I wore (for some reason it won't let me re-size this giant picture...):

I love this dress.  It is from Dress Barn.  And did you notice I finally cleaned my mirror?  haha.  That is the main reason that I like hosting things at my house- it forces me to really clean my house!

I made some wedding cake cupcakes in a bunch of different patterns:

I also made these 7 layer dips (the idea came from pinterest):

Here is a picture of me and the bride-to-be:

I made this kitchen towel cake as a gift/decoration.  It was fun to make but definitely harder than I thought it would be!

And I had these little high heel cake servers to give out as favors.  I bought that serving tray with an "L" on it before she told me that she wasn't changing her last name from an F to an L, so she just has a tray with an L on it anyway.  Oh well.

There will be many more wedding related posts to come, I'm sure.  The wedding is this upcoming weekend, and we had a bachelorette party last weekend.  Here's hoping everything goes smoothly!

Who asked for snow on Valentine's Day?

So it is supposed to snow here tomorrow.  I'm not pumped.  I mean, it would be awesome if I got a free day off of work, but not if I still have to go in.  I have only had to drive to work once in the snow to my new workplace, and it was super scary since I have to drive across a really long bridge over the river.  We will see.  At least if it snows a lot, I found a really fun idea for a snowman on pinterest!

I have been so forgetful lately.  And on top of that- I think I have been giving people some good material for blonde jokes.  I'm hoping it is because I have been super slammed at work, but I have been saying and doing some stupid stuff.  Let's see, I had my Comcast bills emailed to an email address that I never use (luckily no late fees), forgot to wash the conditioner out of my hair and had to get back in to wash it again, ate some stuff that I knew would make me sick- and did it anyway, and when my friend who is getting married asked me how my toast was coming along- I thought she was talking about the toast that you eat.  Man.  I need some sleep.

My flowers started coming up last week or so.  Perfect- just in time for the snow.  At least the tulips haven't bloomed yet.

(Yes I am aware that my flower bed looks terrible.  No exceuses other than I don't like to be outside, which is important for gardening.)

My Sunday School class has a team in the Bowl for Kids' Sake to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas.  We have a goal to raise $500 and we are up to $335.  If you would be interested in helping us reach our goal, just leave a comment (or contact me some other way) and I'll send you a link to our team page.

I got a haircut.  But it looks basically exactly the same as it did before, just an inch or two shorter, so I'll spare you a picture.  Actually, not one single person commented that I got it cut, so it must really not be that noticeable- which is fine with me- I just thought the ends looked kind of raggedy.

The Razorbacks have continued their pattern of winning at home and losing on the road.  If only we could get a couple of road wins!  I so wish I lived closer to Fayetteville so I could go to more sporting events.

I went to a Super Bowl party, and I made cupcakes and chocolate chip cookie dough truffles.  The cupcakes were so-so, but the cookie dough things were awesome.  I got the recipe from Pinterest.

For some reason, that picture wants to be giant, and will not shrink.  Oh well- they are about life size.  :)  They were supposed to be half regular chocolate and half white chocolate, but I burned the brown chocolate and so I did as many as I could in the white chocolate and then I had to use the leftover pink candy melts from a recent baby shower.

Last night, my sister and I made chocolate covered rice krispie treats (heart shaped of course) for her teachers at church.  I took a picture but it has names on the gift tags, so in the spirit of respecting people's privacy, I won't show it.  Just use your imagination.  A big heart shaped rice krispie treat covered in chocolate and sprinkles and on a white stick tied up with Valentine's ribbon.  I actually don't remember if I came up with this one on my own, or stole it from pinterest.  I looked at a bunch of ideas on there, but I don't know if this was one or not.

This weekend starts the wedding festivities for my friend Cherry!  We're having a shower at my house.  I'm really hoping that the snow comes tomorrow and then stays away for a long time!  I have some cute things planned for the shower so I will have to update you afterwards!

Getting to Know You....

My name is Jessica.  I'm 26 and I'm from Little Rock.  I love Arkansas and the HOGS!

I'm an Engineer and I went to school in Fayetteville.  WOo Pig!

My bff Cherry is getting married in a few weeks and I am super pumped!  We are having lots of fun leading up to the big day.

I like to travel and see new places and things.  This is me in Mexico learning about agave plants and where tequila comes from. (And I'm always up for a good photo op! haha!)

I love sports of all kinds, but football, basketball, and baseball are my favorite, especially the Razorbacks!  (Obviously this is an old picture!)  I was in the Razorback Marching Band, which grew my love of all Razorback sports!  I played piccolo and met a lot of fun people and got to go a bunch of fun places.

Now I play handbells at my church and occasionally flute if they need someone for a special.

I love baking and trying new recipes.  I'm not a big meat eater, but anything else I will give a try.  I am just now starting to get into pinterest and I've found a million new recipes to try.  It's like a whole new world!  :)  And- I've recently discovered the world of crockpot cooking, which is awesome.

I volunteer with the kids in my church and I am active in the Central Arkansas Alumnae Association of my sorority. I like to stay busy!

Um, yeah- that's all I can think of right now.  What else do you want to know? :)
